Itinerary
Day 1 |
You will be picked up at 1000h in an air conditioned vehicle from your hotel or airport in Medan. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you will be taken to Lake Toba passing by the oil palm and rubber plantation. After a five hour journey, you will arrive in Parapat-a resort at the edge of the lake and then across the lake by boat (45-minutes) to reach Samosir , a huge and lovely island in the middle of lake. Spend the night at Silintong or Toledo Inn (depending on availability). |
Day 2 |
After breakfast, at around 0830h set out on an excursion in the island. Explore the beauty and cultural aspects of Batak homeland by visiting Ambarita, an old village with ancient megalithic furniture. Proceed to Simanindo and see Batak folkdance performance and children learning in school. At the Tomok village , you will see the stone tomb of king Sidabutar. Spend the night at your hotel in Samosir. |
Day 3 |
At around 0800h, you will cross back the lake in a public boat to reach Parapat and then driven to Sipirok or Padang Sidempuan with stop at traditional Batak villages in Jangga Dolok, pineapple farm, Balige local market, Sipoholon hotspring and other interesting sites enroute. Spend the night at Torsibohi or Natama hotel in Sipirok / Padang Sidempuan (depending on availability). |
Day 4 |
0700h: The journey today is rather long but worthwhile as you get to explore the inner part of Sumatra. The scenery of mountains, rivers, valleys and traditional villages will relieve you from your weariness. Stop at Aek Sijornih waterfall , Sihepeng botanical garden , gold seeker , Moslem school and equator at Bonjol . Spend the night at Novotel hotel in Bukittinggi. |
Day 5 |
0900h: Explore the beauty and cultural aspects of Minangkabau highland by visiting the clock tower “Jam Gadang”, fort de Kock, Sianok valley, Pandai Sikat - a village famous with hand weaving cloth and wood carving home industry. Travel further to Pagaruyung palace , a site of ancient Minangkabau Kingdom where women ruled in matrilineal society. In the afternoon, return back to Bukittinggi. You have a chance to visit the traditional coffee mill. Spend the night at your hotel in Bukittinggi. |
Day 6 |
Leave Bukittinggi at around 0600h on a two hour journey to the Medan airport. On your way, stop at Anai Valley to enjoy the beauty of Anai Valley Park and waterfall. |
